Press Cuttings Collection

Press cuttings collection

The Press Cuttings Collection at Westminster Music Library is just part of the legacy of Edwin Evans, whose cuttings collection, alongside thousands of books and scores, formed the basis of the Central Music Library upon his death in 1945.

There are approximately 44,000 individual items from the period 1920-1940 contained within its 95 boxes; each meticulously mounted, labelled, and categorised. Alongside newspaper fragments, the collection also contains concert programmes, advertisement posters, and - occasionally - personal correspondence between Evans and other musicians.

At the moment, the collection is only 'searchable' by browsing the lists below - cuttings organised by name of person or organisation featured or by the category within which is held. While a full digitisation is hoped for, we are delighted to make this extraordinary resource available to researchers now.
