TfL Journey Planner - Planner for journeys in and around London. It allows you to specify places in several ways (e.g.: postcodes, stations). You can use the 'Advanced options' to choose transport type, maximum walking time, disability options etc. The site also has detailed information on London's buses (road and river), tubes, trams and DLR, and on other modes of transport such as coach services, walking and driving in London and travel by taxi.

How Far is it Between - From Free Map Tools, this can be used to find the distance between two named places throughout the world, as the crow flies and distance when driving. Other tools include the UK Postcode Distance Tool, and the Measure Distance Tool, to measure between unnamed points on a map. Takes a bit of practice to get the best out of it.
