  • Del.icio.us - Online way to save your favourite websites so that you can access them anywhere. Share them or keep them private, and view others' favourites to add to your own.​

  • SamKnows - Working in partnership with Ofcom SamKnows allows you to compare broadband connections and companies for your area.​

  • Google tools - A range of free online tools such as shared calendars, collaborative applications, blog software and more.​

  • Zoho - Free office applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets and presentations) which can be used on the web without downloading software, and which allow online collaboration between remote users. Other tools also available.

 

Internet archive

  • Wayback Machine - Project to archive content of the World Wide Web at periodic intervals, with some content dating back to 1996.

  • Gumtree - London hub for a range of classified, accommodation, personal and job advertisements, with forums and links to other Gumtree hubs around the world.​

  • Facebook - Social networking sites where you can post a personal profile then link up with current and long-lost friends and colleagues, and through them make new ones. You can find others in Wikipedia's list of social networking sites.

 

Website authoring

  • EchoEcho - Tutorials and forums on Webpage creation including some authoring tools.​

  • html tutorials - Tutorials and forums for beginners and more advanced authors on different aspects of website authoring written in plain English with HTML code examples.​

  • Nominet.org.uk - Check who owns a particular Website, or if the site you want is available; just enter the address in the 'WHOIS' search facility.​

  • World Wide Web Consortium - Website of the standard setting body for the World Wide Web.
